S.P.I.R.I.T. goes to Hell...and Blazes

Hello!

We got you by the title didn't we?  :)  Well it's sooo much better than it sounds!

Hell and Blazes is actually a really cool bar/restaurant in Melbourne Florida.  It's in a building built in 1898 and through the course of it's service to Melbourne it has served as a hardware store, a bank and even a mortuary to crash victims from a 1947 plane crash.  Are these victims still there?  Or is it the former owners of the building?  Can you still hear the piano sounds from the wife of one of the former owners who used to sit and play and the local Indians would gather to listen to the music?

Well S.P.I.R.I.T. wanted to find out!  So when we got the chance we went..there was something more than just the great food and "spirits" that were calling us to this place.

We started our investigation with a base sweep of the building as it had not closed down for the evening yet we setup in a back room and unloaded the equipment to get to work.  As we explored the building we found it has a lot of artifacts found during the restoration of the building.  There are pieces of the history to talk to each purpose that the building served.  In fact the old piano sits in the window of the restaurant.  As we wandered the building we got the normal hits you would expect with the power and equipment.  Surprisingly the artifacts did not give off any indication of being haunted...but the history is powerful.  This included the shoes found, the old bottles, a piece of an old range that was found under the floor boards and a receipt for a casket.

So with the sweep completed and impressions of the building gathered, we still had time to wait for the business to close it's doors.  So we decided to setup some equipment in the back room just to see if anything hit while we were waiting.   We were checking out the artifacts and reviewing evidence from a prior investigation when one of the investigators ask the other to review the EVPs outside of the room as she was not using headphones.  As our investigator got up to leave the REM Pod started going off in the direction of where the investigator was sitting.

Interesting...so the investigator sat down and we started an EVP session.  We didn't get responses, so chalked it up to a random hit.  As we talked about what was happening at the time of the first hit, we got the idea that maybe someone didn't like us asking the investigator to leave the room.  So we had the investigator sit back down and then we very strongly asked them to leave the room.  The REM Pod went off AGAIN in the direction of that investigator.  We tried this a few more times with the same reaction each time.  WOW!  Were the spirits upset with us "fighting"?

So at this point we decided it was time to come clean.  We announced to the room and anyone listening that we were not fighting, that we were actually very good friends.  Once we did this we tried the experiment again and nothing happened.  We tried it multiple times through out the night after that and nothing happened.  Did we interact with someone?

Once the business was closed down we proceed to roam the location, we did multiple EVP sessions through out the location and took pictures.  You can see our pictures on our Facebook page...S.P.I.R.I.T.

We didn't receive too much more activity this night, because as we know we have to look at it at one night at a time as they are not there to perform on command.  But reports of apparitions, objects moving and sounds do come from the staff.

Our last sessions was sitting near the piano.  We did EVP sessions asking if someone wanted to talk to us...and we really didn't receive much but as we were doing the sessions and asking the questions we did get several EMF hits from the equipment on the piano.  Were we being observed?

We didn't get answers to who or why someone was in this location, but you can feel the history in the building and the atmosphere is both friendly and inviting both during business hours and after.....

S.P.I.R.I.T. at the Slaughterhouse

We know right?  Your looking at the title and saying who would go to a SLAUGHTER HOUSE!  LOL, funny that is what we thought when we pulled up to the location.  What a way to spend a Saturday night!

We were invited to investigate Farris Meatpacking.  It is a no longer functioning slaughter house. Since we have never investigated a place like this, we weren't really sure what to expect or how to approach this investigation.

When we entered the building you had the sense of just how long it had not been in use.  We did wear protective breathing devices, no sense taking chances with our health.

As we roamed through the building just getting a sense of what the place was like, you could tell it was a busy place at one point, but now it had a feeling of forgotten.  As you entered the first floor there was a lot of old furniture laying around, but what we found most interesting is the original lockers the workers at the plant used were still in place.  Something about them just brought the people who worked there to mind.  Was it hard to work there?

We could only go to the second floor, as the third floor was not considered stable to walk on.  As we worked our way up a winding spiral metal staircase with all of our gear, the building did give off a creepy feeling.  It was as if something was waiting for us on the next floor.

As we started setting out our equipment we did get a limited response to our request asking any one there to respond to our questions.  However, when we started using the Spirit Box, we did get some interesting responses.  We asked if they worked there and what their name was and we got the response of "Ethan".  We asked what they processed there and the response came "animals".  Out of all the words that could come through, the timing on "animals" was amazing.  (Check out our Instagram or Facebook page to hear the session)

As we were performing the session, there came the sound of running above our head.  Only that floor wasn't stable or complete enough for someone to be up there.  It happened multiple times.  Was there someone there?  This is one of those times, we couldn't really debunk, it wasn't safe enough.  But to note, the location is fenced and has security and they have had no reports of any vagrants.  So who knows for sure.

At one point we had walked away from the stair case and moved to the other side of this large building.  As we were preparing for an EVP session and taking photographs, we clearly heard someone step heavily onto the metal staircase and begin coming up.  Since we were the only ones on the property that would be in the building we ran to the staircase and shined our light on it to see who was there and there was no one. 

We decided it was time to go back to the other side and continue our investigation.  Looking into the darkness we saw what appeared to be a shadow moving back and forth. We know, a shadow in the darkness, but until you experience it you don't realize it is possible to see something darker than the natural darkness.  We tired to photograph it but weren't able to capture what we were seeing.

It was time to go back to the first floor and investigate it.  We went to a section that appeared to last be used to store hardware supplies and there our K2s started going off repeatedly for the two investigators that were standing there.  We spent a LONG TIME trying to debunk the randomness of the devices going off, but there seemed to be nothing to explain it.  We checked to see any power causing it to go off but nothing.  It really seemed to like the two investigators and would respond upon request almost and then nothing.  It was toying with them.  We even tested that by sending in two different investigators and we could not get it to respond to them.  However, when we sent the original investigators back, it began responding again.  It really appeared to have it's favorites.  You can see some of the video on our Facebook page too.

And YES, we did do EVPs sessions where we tried to see if we would get any kind of animal responses.  Besides making us all laugh with our failing animal sounds (so much for being quiet during EVPs lol) we did not get any animal sounds.  We did get some growling, but not sure if it was animal or human.

So all in all it was a great investigation and a first for our books!  And a great idea for a horror story....

S.P.I.R.I.T. and the Woman in White (Villages of Vilano)

We were called to the Villages of Vilano with the report of a woman in a white civil war era dress that is seen walking between and through three houses.

We were invited to investigate to of the three houses as the other owners were out of town and were not available.

The first house we went into is one of the three on the end.  She is seen coming through their side door, into the house and walks through furniture and walls.  She doesn't say anything but she will turn and appear to be looking right at one of the people who lives in the house. She has also been seen walking down one of their hallways before disappearing.

During this investigation, none of our equipment really too much response to anything in the house, but again the dousing rods did lend some information.  There were no results when they were asked about the woman in white, however, when they were asked about a relative who had passed.  But through the course of investigation we were able to identify the name of the relative who had passed and were able to verify some information around their birth date.  We do this to validate our findings for the client. 

At one point we did ask them to point toward good friend and they did accurately point toward that person who had joined us for the investigation.

We also had some dimming of lights somewhat frequently, which we determined were not related to air conditioning as it nor the heat were running.  Also some knocks on walls like someone was really trying to get our attention.

Once things started getting quite, we packed up our equipment and moved on to the other house which was at the other end of the three houses.  It's the middle house we did not get to investigate.

As we came into this new house, our investigator noticed some Christmas decorations were laying on the floor.  They picked them up and the home owner told us that the woman in white had just come through there and knocked it off.  She stated that it happens a lot.  We checked with the other house owners and they said they had not had any reports of noises or things moving, just seeing her walking around.

As we talked more with the new home owner, she informed us she had a LOT of antiques in her house.  Mostly from all of her relatives.  She was the keeper of their memories.  She had a whole closet full of photographs, she had a tea setup from the 1600's, furniture from the 1700's and much more.  She said the woman has been seen multiple times in her house including coming into the bedroom and looking in her cabinet like it was a chest she was bending over and looking into.  Often the lights flicker on and off and noises are heard and things are moved. 

She explained that she had been able to sense spirits since she was young and she was not worried and had no fear from this lady being in her house.  She even stated her dog, was not too concerned by her appearance there either.

We broke out the equipment and did our walk throughs, but nothing really hit on anything as far as our equipment was concerned.  But you could feel all the energy that was in that house just coming from all the historical items.  Is that why the lady in white was stronger in this house as opposed to the first house we investigated?

We did something a little different during this investigation and tried to ask questions with a crystal.  However, we couldn't get it to stop moving at all so we could ask it questions, we did do some EVP recordings which did say a few things, however, mostly we got Spirit Box responses to questions.  During this session we ALSO received a response that one of the people coming through was the loved one that had passed from the first house.  We got confirmation by name.  Was he not able to get his message through when we were at the first house?  Did he travel?

The home owner mentioned she had lost a relative young, so we did try to ask if they were with us.  However, the response was more questioning the relationship of that person to the home owner.  Not responding as the person.  Does that mean the energy there intelligent?  Sure seems that way.

We felt nothing uncomfortable or uneasy at either place.  As a matter of fact, we felt love and welcomed from both families and their home.

We want to go back and maybe setup some trap cameras between the houses, just to see if we can document the lady in white that way...

S.P.I.R.I.T. goes to Riverside Cemetery

WOW what a night this was!

Riverside Cemetery was very unique and an exciting night.  We went at the invite of another Team!  War Party Paranormal!!

As we were waiting for everyone to get there and gather the environment started right off delivering a large black mass that was seen by three SEPARATE groups of people that were no where near each other when it showed it's self.  As we got together to tell each other what we saw we realized that all three sets of people had seen it at one time!!  Started out really well!!

Next we gathered to sit and do some EVP sessions and they were still lively even there!  We were getting some responses to our questions and noises when we asked for some of the gates to be moved.    We also had Lizzie the doll along for this investigation, did she attract attention?  Not sure but the air was alive! (snicker)

We then split up and went our separate ways.  Some of us went to see Perry Como!  Yes his grave and his wife's are in this cemetery.  We performed some EVP sessions there and did get responses to some of our questions, but he did appear to be a little quiet and apparently normally he was not.  But we did see some strange lights floating near his grave that were the size of small plates.  Apparently this is a frequent sighting as well at this cemetery.

As we walked around there was a strange peacefulness in one place, but then you walk to another it seemed like a totally different place.  You could feel in the air that some things were not resting in peace there.  We went to one area where during a previous investigation by War Party a large black mass had been spotted.  When a couple of our investigators walked into this area between two graves, they could feel like...an unsetteled feeling also of being watched.  There was a bench in front of one of the mausoleums and as an investigator went there to sit, they were over whelmed with a since of dizziness.  Pictures were taken and EVPs were done, but no response.  When the feelings continue and grew in intensity, one of the investigators stated out loud, "You don't have permission to touch me or harm me in any way, but we would like to TALK to you".  Still no response, however, all of a sudden the feelings went completely away.  We had others on the Team that are sensitive to these types of events and we asked them to check out the area, not knowing what had previously occurred and they said the area felt fine.  Was there something there originally?  Who knows, but the investigators surely thought there was!

This cemetery is also known for a whistler.  Where you whistle and you receive a response.  We didn't get to hear that during our investigation, but we sure do want to go back to try again.

S.P.I.R.I.T. and Declaration and Company - St. Augustine Florida

Hello!

One of our latest adventures found us going to St. Augustine Florida!  We investigated an old building which is now the home of Declaration & Company!  If you love to shop this is a great place to find that unique gift........or spirit.

Our Team prefers not to find out too much about a place until we have at least begun our investigation, this way if something comes up during the process, it allows us to validate our findings.

 We came into the shop in the evening and began our initial walk through.  One of the first things we did is our base line readings, as well as having the empath on our Team walk the building to get a "feel" for the place.  One of the things they picked up on is the back room just felt full of energy.  When they opened the door it seemed to rush out.  You could feel it like wind on your arms.  There was no open window or air conditioner vent and when we as a Team with the owner went back there during the investigation, there was no such feeling since the doors had been left open.  While we were later investigating the space we did here a disembodied voice, but at this time have not identified any EVPs from that space, we have more to review.

Next place that was identified is the stairs going up to the second floor.  As you started walking up the stairs and got to the third stair, it had a different feeling.  The way it was described was a feeling that your feet were heavy, like wearing really heavy boots for the third and next few stairs.  We set up a vibration sensor on those stairs and watched it for the first part of the investigation.  As we moved through the investigation, we did share the feelings of the back room downstairs and the stairs coming up to the second floor.  The client then did confirm there was something a little off about the stairs.  When they first moved into the space, there was a piece of plywood covering up the first through the third stairs.  They had to remove it due to code requirements.  Could the heaviness been related to that?  Not sure but seems surprising it was the same steps involved...your thoughts?

As we discussed our thoughts about the place with the owners and his friends that joined us, we told them of a feeling when walking into one of the back rooms of the top floor of being thrown to the right.  We saw nothing wrong with the floor and there was no visible incline / decline.  But the feeling was really extreme.  They then explained that they had had the building reviewed when they bought it and in fact the very back part of the building was added on and it did have a 20% slant to the right.  Not sure if normally a 20% variance would be felt as extreme as this was felt but wow...we were pretty spot on.

We also performed EVP blast during that time and did get a few things, we are still reviewing to isolate them.  We also spent a good deal of time doing dousing rod sessions with the owner and his friends participating.  During these sessions our static electricity devices kept going off randomly as well as other equipment.  We couldn't get them to go off with any consistantcy or in response to any questions we asked.  However, during the dousing rod sessions, we did get some responses and not all were related to the building.  Again, some personal things came through for those participating in the sessions.  This is always exciting.

Have you ever used the Iphone "live photo" mode when you are doing your investigations?  We have caught several things when doing that and find it very interesting in what it catches.  This time we caught a light bar traveling along the floor. If we didn't have the live photo we wouldn't have identified it as traveling.  Really cool!  Check out our facebook site for the postings!

This investigation was a lot about the feelings, both the feel of the building and the participants.  Reactions to the information we were obtaining and the response to our equipment.  We beleive we helped them and they are now more aware of what is in their building and how to address them as they go about their day to day activities.  We hope to go back soon for an update.

S.P.I.R.I.T. Ventures to the Devil's Tree

Hello!


Sorry, it's been awhile, we have been really busy and have some amazing adventures coming up that we will be writing about.


However, today we want to tell you about our trips to the Devil's Tree.  This is located in a park in Florida.  If you want more details then we will be providing here, you can do a search on just the little bit we've told you and find a LOT of different stories.  As with anything on the web, please ensure the information you are reading is reliable.


We've made a couple of trips to the Devil's Tree.  We had heard (like so many others) that it was a very haunted location, with screams and a tree that can't be cut down.  The tree received it's name due to a killer who in the 1970's, was actually a police deputy and was convicted of killing multiple young woman.  We will not say his name in our blog. It is reported in police transcripts that he brought several of his victims to this area to torture.


The area has several foundations of old building, often these are said to be the killer's old homestead.  That is incorrect as his homestead was verified to be somewhere else based on police reports and deed records.  More than likely they are buildings that kept those working and moving along the river safe and dry.  There is no information from the historical society telling us what those are from.


When we went to the tree we did the obvious, EVP recordings.  We didn't listen to them while we were at the tree too much as we didn't have a lot of time to do that since the park closes at dusk.  However, we did have quite a few recorders going.  We also took a trigger object of a scarf with us as we had heard the killer collected these kind of things from those he killed.


We also did a few dousing rod sessions.  We asked things like who was there?  We didn't seem to get anything from the victims, however, someone showed up and they did not appear to be very happy.  Upon review of our EVPs we determined quite a few growls and mumbling.  At first we though maybe it was a recorder issue, but as you can hear us talking in the back ground clearly, it can't be the recorder.  It goes on for quite some time.  We've posted some of these on our Facebook page S.P.I.R.I.T. and a few on our Instagram page:  Southern Paranormal Team.  They really are very disturbing.  But we have no proof of who it is that was trying to communicate with us.


One thing really interesting that occurred while we were out there is the wildlife / nature that was around us.  The park is covered in oaks and wonderful trails, so nature is obvious.  So are birds, bugs and little critters.  However, it seemed every time we asked that someone speak to us,while we waited the birds would stop chirping and the crickets would stop and it would go completely quite, even the wind would stop blowing.


This happened on multiple occasions.  It got to the point it was a little unnerving as many times as it occurred.  Now hearing the voice on the recorder...begs to make you think was something controlling it?  Was this the killer or something else?  Was it an elemental?


We can say that we did however, ensure that we saged / holy watered ourselves prior to getting in our cars.  But of course we do this on almost all of our investigations...and so should you.  Whatever protection looks like for you.


Just a little side note, we will be having a new blog starting in February.  It is Lizzie's Spirit.  It is a fun blog from the point of view of our newest Team member Lizzie the doll...  Everyone needs a laugh.  :)

S.P.I.R.I.T. goes to SWFL UFO and Paranormal Convention!!

The Team went to the conference this weekend!  What an amazing time!  We met soooo many wonderful people and heard some great information!


We met people like John Zaffis from the Haunted Collector, Rob Robinson the Legend Tripper and his wife Tracy, Mark Muncy (Author of Freaky Florida among many others), the dynamic Team from Tripping on Legends, April and Braxton, Glen Gregory Means  and sooo many more.  If you get time, you need to check out our Facebook or Instagram pages as we posted pictures from the conference.


However, as usual this blog is to be about our adventure!


We brought our newest Team member Lizzie to the conference.  Let us tell you about Lizzie and one of her new friends.  As we approached the conference the first person we met was John Zaffis.  We think he was immediately drawn to her...afterall  she is a doll.


We had a great time with John and Lizzy, by the end of the day, Lizzy was referring to John as Uncle Johnny!!  We did have a LOT of people wanting to take pictures of and with Lizzie.  However, one of the vendors wanted to test Lizzy to see if she was "haunted".  So he brought his EMF detector up to Lizzie.  No reaction on the device.  Then he tried his second meter which was a Gauss Meter.  This meter is supposed to measure the direction and strength of a magnetic field.  Well Lizzie topped the charts!!!  We thought he was joking, but later that day we found out he wasn't.


We left Lizzie to sit and watch over John's booth and were just coming back to pick her up when a group of people came and they all wanted to video tape Lizzie.  The gentleman with the gauss meter came back and we all video taped him as he brought the meter up to Lizzie again.  It was totally maxed out.  You can see the video on both our Facebook page:  S.P.I.R.I.T. or Instagram: SouthernParanormalTeam.


We did some further investigation on Lizzie and we found out she was made somewhere between 1980-1990.  But that is all the history we have on her at the moment, we have more to come which will come out in the Lizzie's S.P.I,R.I,T. adventures blog starting in February.


Lizzie really enjoyed the adventure as well as we did.  She was even able to ask Uncle Johnny a question during the Q&A session!


We met soo many new friends and everyone was so welcoming to our Team.  We really appreciated everything and great information was received and new reading material for the Team!!


Watch for our next blog to come out later this week about an investigation we completed at the Devil's Tree and we can tell you we have exciting events to come as we are scheduled every weekend for the following couple of months!!
